Geshe Ngawang Tharchin was born in Northern India in 1966. After moving to Southern India, he attended the Central School for Tibetans in Mundgod until he was 14, at which time he decided to enter Drepung Nyagre Khangtsen Monastery.
Geshe-la became a novice monk in 1981, and in 1992 was ordained by H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama. He was awarded the degree of Geshe (Lingtse Tsoramp) in 1999, and further studied for an additional year at Gyüto Tantric University, also in India. He moved to Canada in 2009 and since then has travelled to Hongkong and Macau to teach buddhist philosophy. Geshe la has also been an active volunteer and has participated in various religious activities here at Gangjong Choedenling since 2009.
Lhakpa Tsering
Administrative Manager
Lhakpa Tsering has was born in Tibet and completed his schooling from TCV, Dharmsala India. Lhakpa completed his undergraduate from St. Xavier’s College, and completed his B.Ed from Punjab University. He was a fulbright scholar and worked as a headmaster and principal for TCV schools. In 2006, Lhakpa Tsering immigrated to Toronto and later joined the Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre in 2008 as the only administrative staff. Since then he has worked in many roles at the centre and has helped shape the organization with his wealth of administrative experience.
