Dear Community members,
I am glad to announce that on January 14, 2013, the mortgage charge of our general contractor on the property of Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre at 40 Titan Road has been removed. We have negotiated the best possible solution with the contractor and mutually agreed to sign the Mutual Release agreement between TCCC and the contractor on January 9, 2012. We took necessary cautions by consulting our lawyers and expert advisors before concluding the Mutual Release agreement. With discharge of the mortgage on the property of Gangchen Choedhenling, on Janaury 14, 2013, after one and half year we have finally succeeded in removing an enormous liability that many of us initially thought was beyond our means and capacity. With these huge liabilities of the general contractor gone from our property, we have succeeded in stabilizing the long-term sustainability of the Centre although short-term challenges do remain.
I hope that this is great news to all the community members worthy of joy and satisfaction as we enter proudly into my favorite year Tibetan Royal Year 2140 Water Snake Year. United by unprecedented sense of dedication and purpose, all of us have worked hard to make secure the property of Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre. This property as of today stands clear of any other charge except that of our banker.
This is a small success because of the challenges that still lie ahead. At the same time this is also a big success because we reached so far in spite of our limited capacity and resources. We have reached this success so far because we are inspired by a common dream and united by our common determination. The sense of purpose in our common dream and sense of unity based on common resolve makes us one of the strongest Tibetan communities in North America. I salute this resolute strength of ours.
Yet, this success would not have been possible without the compassionate blessing of our beloved leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama and without the unequivocal support from the Dalai Lama Trust. We will remain indebted to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and His Trust. Hopefully we will be able to live up to the blessings as well as the vision of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
I am fortunate to work with a dedicated and talented team of Board members. They have selflessly committed their time and energy to live up to the expectation and trust of the community. Above all, the team spirit among the members and their belief in frank and open discussion on every thing that embarked upon as well as their belief in the principle of transparency will remain an example for the future generation of the community to see. I am sure that our community will remember us for the role we were given to perform during this phase of the Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre.
Our team is being supported by group of hard working and committed volunteers, many of them senior citizens. They have our deepest sense of respect and appreciation. We realize that our efforts would have been greatly constraint without the continuous support and contribution through their voluntary deeds.
Those supporters, advisors and professionals on whom we relied for their guidance and directions will always have our highest respect and appreciation.
Lastly, the members of our community have been the greatest source of our motivation and strength. Without their ever willing desire to take on challenges, without their spontaneous determination to pull in funds and without their dedicated support to every calls made upon by the Board, the story of TCCC during the last one and half year would have a different story. If the story so far has been a success story, the entire credit for this success goes to the Tibetan community in Toronto. I will forever remain grateful for the incredible dedication and unshakable support that we received from the members of Tibetan community in Toronto.
Tashi Deleg and Happy Losar.
