Welcome to the second year of ProAction Cops & Kids’ Lungta basketball Tournament 2013.
On behalf of ProAction Cops & Kids and Toronto Police Service, in association with the Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre, I appreciate your participation and applaud the willingness to explore the best of your inner leadership skills, teamwork, respect, life skills and your commitment to your community.
Our objective here is very simple; we want to share our passion through sports to understand you better and foster a better trust, respect and understanding both ways.
2012 was our first year hosting the coveted Lungta basketball tournament. We achieved our goal of building a trust with at-risk Tibetan youths. We have built a relationship and stayed in touch with many of the at-risk Tibetan youths. We did.
Congratulation the Toronto Parkdale’s “Dream team” who captured our first year’s ProAction Cops & Kids Lungta basketball championship trophy after a grueling hard fought final with the “617 team”.
We were extremely encouraged from your feedbacks last year and we are ever more hyped to make this year a bigger, better and successful 2013 Lungta basketball tournament.
We measure our success from the feedbacks we receive from you and your parents. Therefore, make sure to give us your feedback and tell us how we can do a better job in making a positive impact on you to become a better person and be a positive leader of your community.
Sincerely;
Lhawang Jongdong (Detective)

ProAction Cops & Kids was founded in 1991 when Toronto businessman John L. Bitove Sr. realized that the City of Toronto would benefit from its youth and police officers having a better relationship with each other. Benefits include: kids beginning to understand and respect police and vice versa, the perception of police improving in the larger community and opening lines of communication between youth and police begin to break down the culture of silence.
Since 1991, ProAction has become the largest private funder of Toronto police programs for youth and has expanded to include chapters in Durham Region (2007) and Hamilton (2008). ProAction works with these police services that make community building a priority and is proud to provide financial assistance to help make police-youth programs a reality.
Police officers are at the heart of every program funded by ProAction Cops & Kids. Each program is initiated and organized by police officers. ProAction encourages officers to share their passions with youth, providing programs with a wide range of activities: sports and camping, arts, leadership, life skills and safety. Many programs include one-on-one mentoring between cops and kids. Participating youth are identified by police officers with the help of local schools, youth workers, churches and community centers.
Dedicated to deliver police services, in partnership with the communities, to keep Toronto the best and safest place to be.
