The TCCC/CTAO losar event was a success.  The event started with Sangsol, followed by the placement of the Portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the Throne led by the Tibetan Local Gyashey Group.  We had over 1500 community members attend the event this year on Sat Feb 29th.  The day featured speeches by  our Chief Guest Dr. Michael van Walt van Praag and his colleague Meak Bucces.  Speeches were also delivered by Mr. Arif Virani MP, Parkdale-Highpark, Mr. James Maloney MP, South Etobicoke/Lakeshore, Christine Hogarth MPP, South Etobicoke/Lakeshore, Bhutila Karpoche, MPP Parkdale/High Park, Mr. Gord Perks, City Councillor for Ward 4.  Among our guests we also had the presence of former Senator Consiglio DiNino, our supporter Edward and Pauline.  Along with the speeches, the community was entertained by our TCCC Performing Arts students and former artists of the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA).

After a sumptuous meal, the afternoon entertainment included a Fashion show led by Tenzin Chogkyi showing traditional and contemporary Tibetan dress and the theme was more towards the youth getting engaged and preserving the Tibetan cuture.  This was followed by the Tibetan Circle Dance (Gorshey).  TCCC also held a dance party the same night and over 300 attendees celebrated Losar until dusk.
