Parents are the child\u2019s first and lifelong learning partners.<\/p>\n<p>The parents\u202fof TCCC School provide significant contributions to the development of school. They help set up classes, prepare lunches for children\u202fand raise funds for\u202fschool improvement.<\/p>\n<p>In order to support parents&#8217; efforts to advance their children&#8217;s learning and foster healthy behaviours, we run parent\u2019s forums and meetings in TCCC, and offer resources on a timely basis.<\/p>\n<p>Kha-ta:<\/p>\n<p>Kha-ta in Tibetan means advice. This is a parent&#8217;s forum to\u202fengage\u202fin and explore\u202fa variety of subjects\u202fpertaining to children\u2019s\u202feducation, behaviour and upbringing.\u202fWe hold Khata sessions once in two months and discuss topics such as the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Importance of the Tibetan language for preserving Tibetan identity.<\/li>\n<li>Parenting children in the twenty first\u202fCentury.<\/li>\n<li>Social and emotional learning for children.<\/li>\n<li>Children&#8217;s reading skills.<\/li>\n<li>Children&#8217;s behaviour management skills.<\/li>\n<li>Physical, mental and emotional well-being.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Parents contribute to children&#8217;s learning by being supportive and setting firm and friendly limits with their children. Their responsibilities include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be supportive and encouraging.<\/li>\n<li>Provide appropriate involvement in the homework activity.<\/li>\n<li>Set regular homework routines with flexibility.<\/li>\n<li>Provide a note of explanation when\u00a0home work\u00a0is incomplete.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure your child is reading, or is read to, on daily basis at home.<\/li>\n<li>Please submit fees and forms on time.<\/li>\n<li>Drop and pick up child on time as TCCC is not a daycare centre.<\/li>\n<li>Inform TCCC by telephone 416-410-5606 for student\u2019s absence.<\/li>\n<li>Pick up child\/ward for lunch or provide lunch at TCCC as TCCC will not be responsible for any situation or incident during the lunch period.<\/li>\n<li>Inform TCCC in writing if their child will be absent for an extended period.<\/li>\n<li>Provide a written notice should your child decide to quit the program. Without formal notification of withdrawal, a student\u2019s status will continue to be considered active and program fees will continue to accumulate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Parent Representatives<\/p>\n<p>Four to six volunteer Parent representatives were elected by parents to support TCCC Tibetan Language and Performing Arts Program and act as a bridge between parents &amp; teachers &amp; administrators.<\/p>\n<p>The parent representatives will be responsible to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Supervise and coordinate parents for volunteer work for making lunch, setting up and tidying up lunch tables and chairs<\/li>\n<li>Help in organizing Annual TCCC Performing Arts Students Cultural Concert<\/li>\n<li>Organize annual Family Picnic<\/li>\n<li>Help Education and Cultural coordinator with any other school related work when requested<\/li>\n<li>Organize fundraising event<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tcccgc.org\/school\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Parents-Representative-Term-of-Reference-Final.pdf\">Copy<\/a> of Terms of Reference for Parents Committee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parents: We believe that the partnership between parents and teachers is vital for the children\u2019s learning, especially when learning a language in a home environment.
