Tibetan Buddhism/Language/Dance & Music Classes.  In view of the upcoming renovation project at TCCC, Saturday programs for children/youth/adult moved to Queen Victoria Public School, King & Jameson.

TSERING TOPGYAL

Tsering TopgyalTsering Topgyal was born in Tibet and has trained as a professional Artist  from 1969 to 1979 at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts(TIPA), Dharamsala, India.  He has specialized in classical, folk dance and opera.  After graduating from the performing arts institution, Mr. Topgyal worked as a performing arts teacher from 1979 to 1984 at SOS Tibetan School located in Pokhara, Nepal.  He has also taught Tibetan Opera to a non profit organization in Nepal through the Tibetan Education Department, Government in Exile. 

After many years of teaching in Nepal, Mr. Topgyal wanted to be closer to the palace of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and therefore moved to Dharamsala, India in the year 1984.  Since then he has dedicated his life towards the preservation of Tibetan Arts and Culture and therefore taught music, dance and opera to the children of lower TCV School for 22 years in Dharamsala, India.

Other than Mr. Topgyal's teaching profession, he has also traveled and performed extensively around the world.  He was one of the performers in the first ever TIPA World wide tour in 1972 and also in 1975.  He also performed in 1991 at the International year of Tibet, USA, 1996 US Tour and at the Smithsonian Festival,Washington DC in the year 2000. For the past two years.

Mr. Topgyal currently resides in Toronto and is the Director of the Tibetan Canadian Cultural Centre's Performing Arsts Program.  He has been with the associaton for two years and has performed at various festivals in Toronto such as the one at the Harbour Front Centre "South Asia Calling" during the summer.  His students have performed at many occasions and various festivals too.
